How do I find X% of a number?
Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. For example, 15% of 2400 is 2400 x 15 / 100 = 360.
How do I work out what percentage one number is of another?
Divide the first by the second and multiply by 100. So 45 out of 150 is 30%.
How is percentage change calculated?
Subtract the original from the new value, divide by the original, then multiply by 100. A negative result means a decrease.
Why is a 50% rise then a 50% fall not back to the start?
Each percentage applies to a different base. 100 rises to 150, then 50% of 150 is 75 — not 100.
